The Art of Emotion Team

Becky, Erika, and Joshua Burgin are the photographers behind The Art of Emotion. The three have been pooling their award-winning talents and working as a team since 2000. Together, they've photographed hundreds of weddings in the San Francisco area and beyond.

Becky Burgin is The Art of Emotion’s lead photographer and creative visionary. She’s also the team’s actionista, able to respond quickly to changing timelines and solve logistical problems as they arise. Her passion is reflecting the romance between two people in the unexpected moment.

Joshua Burgin is the team’s photojournalistic photographer and videographer, known to literally sprint to position himself in just the right place to capture award-winning moments. And Erika Burgin is able to discern the emotional needs of people around her—an invaluable photographic skill for visually telling the “story” of day.

As a family of artists, Becky, Erika, and Joshua love what they do, love working together and enjoy combining their strengths and talents to bring joy in the form of shared memories to others.

Awards & Distinctions

Becky Burgin was listed on 2014 Photography Masters of WPPI. Both Becky Burgin and Erika Burgin are recipients of the Wedding and Portrait Photography International (WPPI) Accolade of Photographic Mastery award. Becky Burgin also received WPPI’s Accolade of Outstanding Photographic Achievement. Their images have been featured on Wedding Wire, Martha Stewart, Project Wedding, and Wedding Bee, and have appeared in advertisements for Sony and Kodak.

In 2012, The Art of Emotion received The Knot’s Best Of Wedding Photography Award and Wedding Wire Bride's Choice Award for 2010 - 2014. In addition, their images have been features in many books about professional photography, including: The Best of Wedding Photography, The Best of Portrait Photography, and Master Lighting Guide for Wedding Photographers.
